That's 100 wheelchairs in 3.5 hours, yes that's
right, one hundred wheelchairs were assembled and received by residents of the beach
towns in Guanacaste.
Forty volunteers worked very hard to make this happen.

The day was highlighted by many rural neighbors
arriving in ambulances as well as flat bed cattle trucks to receive the great
new chairs. Several people from neighboring farms arrived in the back of a
cattle truck on foam mattresses, having never had wheelchairs and unable to
walk.
Wonderful to see them with mobility!

The most touching moment of the day was the
arrival of Estefan and his grandmother, Denia Pasos.
Estefan was one of the
first recipients of a donated wheelchair. Due to a congenital condition he was
unable to walk. He had a successful surgery about a year ago and is now walking
and attending school and has a normal life. However, Denia, his grandmother no
longer is able to walk. What a sight to see Estefan pushing his grandmother
Denia in her new wheelchair!

A joy to see that he can walk, and a wonder that
working together we can make a difference in various generations of one family
in our community.
